Hey! I'm Janna

Updated: Apr 17

And it's super awesome to meet you! Why am I here? Let me tell you.

One of my goals in life, and something I'm really passionate about, is helping people live healthier lives. It took me awhile to figure out exactly how I could do this with the gifts and skills I have. So I'm going to take a minute to let you get to know me a little bit better.

I was really stuck for awhile. Years. I went back and forth repeatedly in my head wondering what my purpose was and if I was just wasting my time doing whatever it was I was doing at the time. I spent a lot of time comparing myself to others and being frustrated by not being able to do what they do. For example, I could never be a doctor or a nurse, the ultimate helpers, because once I see too much blood I'm basically useless. Plus, I'm kind of a germaphobe. I couldn't be an engineer because of math or a chemist because I'd probably blow something up or burn my skin off...turn it yellow or something... Anyway, I focused a lot on what others could do that I couldn't and that wasn't getting me anywhere so I had to change my focus. What could I do? What could I offer the world? I knew certain things I liked, but I didn't exactly know how I could use them for the good of others in a way that I could also pay my bills. And actually be good at it while enjoying it. But, slowly, I started figuring it out.

“The distance between your dreams and reality is called action.”- Unknown

ACTION

Whaaat?! Act? Surely it can't be that simple. There must be some mathematical equation involved...years and years of planning...getting everyone else's opinion. Nope. Just act. Start moving. Start doing. You don't need to know everything.

My process looked like this (and maybe it could help you out):

What am I good at? What have others told me I'm good at? What do I enjoy? What do I find myself naturally gravitating to?

Photography. Writing. Fitness and Wellness.

Examples

  • I frequently used those one time use cameras as a kid (some of which I still have not developed-ha!) and when I got older I transitioned to a digital camera and wandered about with it all the time. A friend has one of my photos hanging over her fireplace (which I thought was AWESOME).

  • I've been writing stories since I was 7 (the amount I've completed is, sadly, negligible), I've briefly written for my local newspaper, and I've even had people ask me to help edit their writings.

  • I played sports all through school and tried to personal train some of my friends as a kid. I used to do Denise Austin workout videos with my mom's workout equipment (my Dad caught it on tape and hopefully it never sees the light of day).

Hmmm...I noticed that I've liked these things for awhile...and then...

I debated becoming a personal trainer for literally 5 years before I finally convinced myself to do it. Then I debated going to school for exercise science and I finally did that, though with a lot less time spent contemplating.

I debated starting my own online training business for...awhile...and now I'm here!

My point is this: figuring things out takes time and you do have to think it over, talk to those who know you best, try out different things, but don't get stuck on the planning hamster wheel-ACT.

Maybe you want to write a book, become a doctor, start your own business, or take control of your health and wellness, but there's always an excuse.

"I'm not smart enough."

"I don't have time."

"I don't have the money."

"I don't know how."

Stop telling yourself reasons why you can't and start telling yourself reasons why you can.

"I am capable of learning."

"I can pay more attention to how I spend each day and make the time."

"I can ensure I'm spending money wisely and when necessary."

"I can find out how by reaching out to someone who does."

Take steps! There will never be a perfect path in front of you. So just start moving!

And that last one about taking control of your health and wellness? I could help you with that. If you want to start feeling stronger, moving better, and being healthier- mind, body, and soul- shoot me an e-mail (jlfit360@gmail.com) and I can work with you to help you achieve what you've only thought about.
